Viktor Ivanchyk, MIM MBA, the co-founder, and CEO of Astarta-Kyiv Agro-Industrial Holding, garnered dual distinctions in the categories of Business Transparency and Business Reputation, as well as the prestigious Forbes Audience Choice award at the recent Entrepreneur of the Year ceremony convened by Forbes Ukraine.
Ivanchyk's triumph was predicated on a meticulous assessment of diverse criteria, encompassing business scale, revenue dynamics, profitability, business transparency, jury evaluations of 2023 achievements, contribution to success, and overall business reputation.
In a perspicacious reflection on the cardinal role of transparency and reputation, Ivanchyk underscored their paramount importance, transcending material wealth. He articulated the transformative potential of a transparent business milieu and government institutions, envisioning positive economic shifts and broader benefits for Ukraine. Ivanchyk elucidated the adverse consequences of opacity, linking it to corruption, crime, tax evasion, and pervasive distrust.
On his Facebook page, Ivanchyk expounded on the profound impact of Astarta-Kyiv's unwavering commitment to transparency and an exemplary business reputation. He noted that these factors have been instrumental in securing substantial financial backing—amounting to hundreds of millions of hryvnias—from both domestic and international partners. The funds are directed towards supporting the Armed Forces, aiding civilians, and fostering regional entrepreneurship, even amidst challenging circumstances such as war. Ivanchyk acknowledged the steadfast efforts of the Astarta team, expressing a lifelong dedication to cultivating a robust reputation and ensuring transparency in business practices.
In terms of financial performance, Astarta Holding delivered stellar results in 2022, witnessing a 4% upswing in revenue to €510 million and a profit of €65 million—a historic zenith in the company's 17-year history. The positive trajectory continued into the first half of 2023, with consolidated revenue reaching €287 million. Astarta's expansive operations span 220,000 hectares of land, with a primary focus on the production of sugar, milk, and soybeans.
"The power of transparency and reputation cannot be overestimated. They are much more important than any material things. Just imagine how the economy and Ukraine would change if all businesses and government institutions were transparent! After all, it is the lack of transparency that gives rise to corruption, crime, tax evasion, and distrust... By the way, it is the transparency of processes and Astarta-Kyiv's business reputation that helps us raise hundreds of millions of hryvnias from our Ukrainian and foreign partners to help the Armed Forces, civilians, and develop regional entrepreneurship even during the war. Together with the Astarta team, we have been working on reputation and business transparency all our lives," Viktor Ivanchyk wrote on his Facebook page, elucidating the profound significance of transparency and reputation in contemporary business landscapes.
