Resilience in Education: MIM's 35th MBA Intake Navigates Challenges and Seeks Transformation

In early February, a resilient MBA group embarked on their academic journey at MIM, marking not only the business school's 35th consecutive intake but also its second during a time of the war. Addressing the students on their inaugural day, MIM President Iryna Tykhomyrova emphasized the transformative nature of education, highlighting its role as an investment in time that yields not just a diploma, but a profound impact on thinking, lifestyle, career, and business.
Prof. Tykhomyrova encouraged the formation of a close-knit community, acknowledging the unique position of these students who, having entered the academic river for the second time, now approach their studies with a refined understanding of their goals and opportunities. The president urged them to draw inspiration from their teachers, fostering growth and collaboration within the MIM community for future ventures and projects.
While MIM is renowned for its focus on business development, the business school has, since the early stages of the war, in 2015, actively collaborated with institutions involved in the country's defense. Taras Chmut, Director of the 'Come Back Alive' Foundation, credited part of the foundation's success—accumulating over UAH 10 billion during the two years of full-scale war—to the training received. A Pre-MBA graduate himself, Chmut highlighted the synergy between the foundation and MIM, emphasizing the shared business processes that facilitate mutual learning and testing of knowledge. 'MIM is one of the reasons for our success. Our team has been studying at various programs for a long time and regularly. Thanks to this, I believe we are quite successful and our results are quite positive,' said Chmut. He also pointed out the unique collaboration between a public organization and a business school, underscoring the practical intersection where they build an institution based on shared business processes, including sales, marketing, procurement, logistics, communications, government relations, and international activities."
Speaking about her expectations, Olena Miroshnychenko, an administrative manager from Kyiv, expressed her aspirations, stating, 'My expectations are probably the same as everyone else's - to move to a new level for myself. Probably, to supplement practical knowledge with academic knowledge, to listen to what the business community is saying today and to understand where we will move together.'
Mykhailo Bohun from Zaporizhzhia, who works at St. Nicholas Multidisciplinary Clinic LLC and owns an e-commerce business, outlined his specific goals at MIM, saying, 'First of all, the goal of my studies at MIM is to take the position of CEO of one of our clinic's divisions. This requires specialized training, which I still do not have. Therefore, I hope that the final result of my stay here will be the ability to manage one of the hospital's departments.'"
As these students embark on a transformative two-year journey, MIM extends a warm welcome to its new members, wishing them an engaging and fruitful experience — one that fulfills their aspirations and exceeds expectations.
